Spring is in the Air

I had the itch to shoot the other day, so I grabbed my 50mm and took a 15 minute stroll around my street. I found a few interesting plants/flower that I liked and the dogs were with me, so I took some quick shots of them as well. I can't wait for more plants to start blooming!

Flannel Mouth Promo Shots

I did some promotional shots of Flannel Mouth last week. I really love how the set of 4 portraits image came out. That was shot in my home studio. The pool table ones, were all their idea. We went to Tyler's (the drummer) grandparents house and used their pool table in the basement. I even used my strobe for these shots! That's the first time I've used it not in front of my plain back drop. I was pretty pleased with the results. We went through a new set of batteries, though, which caused us to stop. Luckily, I think we had already gotten the shots we were looking for.

Sometime, I would like to get a wireless trigger for my 580EX. I'm a little hesitant to get one right now, though, because it's already starting to warm up and I won't be using it too much now. Decisions, decisions...

I Won 2 Categories in the BU Photo Festival

I'm so excited! Bradley put on it's 1st annual photo festival. The theme was 'faces' and we could submit 3 photos total into the 3 categories: portraits, self-portraits, and animals. I chose to submit one of my photos into each category. The BU Photo Festival created a Facebook page and then had people 'like' the pictures to vote. My photos got the most votes in 2/3 categories. Thank you, again, Facebook friends! It was greatly appreciated!

This was what I submitted for the self-portrait category. I was a little disappointed that there were only 2 entries total for this category.

I submitted this photo of Diego for the animal category. I'm SUPER proud of this photograph. Why? Well, for one, I shot it in film. Yes, your girl does occasionally shoot film! I was so pleased with how this turned out. It was what I was going for, but even better! I love the composition, the blurred background, and the expression Diego was making. I mean, the theme was faces and I though this just fit.

Again, thank you so much to anybody who liked my photos! I hope next year it's not based on Facebook likes, though. I'd rather a judge compare the photographs and decide which one was the best in each category. Regardless, I will definitely enjoy my two $25 Amazon gift cards that I won.

Flannel Mouth & The Venetia Fair

I've been friends with the guys in Flannel Mouth (formally Iridescence) since high school. They've let me take pictures for them from the very beginning of my photography career. I'm always happy to help them out and they're great at giving my shout outs on Facebook and suggesting me to their friends and family. I saw them last night at the debut of their new album and I had a great time, like always.

After Flannel Mouth was done with their set, The Venetia Fair had their turn. These guys are crazy, in the best way possible. They are really fun to take pictures of, because they're constantly moving, climbing on their equipment, and making awesome faces.

Please check out both of these great bands! You won't regret it!

Victorian Halls House Show

Last night I went to a house show featuring a few different bands on Bradley's campus. I was most excited to see Victorian Halls. I had seen them twice before last night and I've made it a point to go to any show close enough to me. They're always upbeat, sound great, and are actually really good guys to just talk to and hang out with. I loved the intimate setting that was created at this house show and I believe my favorite shot from the night is the wide shot I took from behind them where you can see all of the crowd, as well.

Oh, Victorian Halls also rocks because they've used two of my photos as their default on their Facebook page. Definitely check them out!
